Here are some letters we've received regarding our Saxophone.com brand saxophones:
Garrett,
Have played in numerous concerts this past summer (weekly) and other gigs this fall.
There has always been a short time after we finish where someone comes up to me to check out my horn.
I have gotten many comments about how smooth and deep the horn sounds and how it carries over the crowd.
They can't get over the black nickel finish and the gold keys.
I hardly have to blow and for the first time, I can play down to a pplevel and up to a fff with no effort at all!
I use a rubber Otto Link mouthpiece with Rico Royal reeds or Rico Jazz and have a nice sound.
Today, we did a 4 hour food show gig with the big band and everyone was asking where it came from.
I gave them your web site. A friend of mine is going to contact you regarding the altos that are for sale.
He is a Berklee grad and, after putting my bari through its paces, wants an alto or tenor for himself.
I told him to check with you so you could advise him which one to get.
Thanks,
Don Chase

These are GREAT horns...and I only paid $250 for it...outplays my Buescher New Aristocrat
and feels just like a Mark VI, only with a different high F# key. Super free-blowing,
nice dark sound, fast action...this one is definitely a keeper.

These Saxophone.com horns just made me excited about playing sax again.
Now I can have the quality of horns I always wanted, but kept putting off because of the
price. What really blows my mind is Garrett can even have his horns customized! This is insane!
I tried one of their tenors today, and I was immediately blown away. I talked to the person who
owned it after, and I was like, "yea I'm definately getting me one, or two, or three.." I hope
to get a bari from there as well sometime in the future. I've played a Selmer Series II before,
and played a Mark VII once, and I gotta tell you, they compete.
For those who can't afford a Mark VI, and find that those inexpensive Saxophone.com horns are
comparable all around, it's a done deal.
I did take a chance on the black nickel alto and i absolutely love it. Everything has worked for me with the horn.
I took my Saxophone.com to my local tech to check out. One minor leak was all he could find. He was very impressed
with it, and was floored by the cheap price tag! He told me that this horn was better made than the Antigua Winds
that he sells. I am very pleased with my sax. The action is smooth and light and I think the tone is just fine.
After daily playing for 18 months now, still no problems at all
Garrett,
I'm absolutely happy to tell you that the sax got here in PERFECT CONDITION.
It is a VERY BEAUTIFUL istrument and the case is just perfect, what a beauty!
I'm so happy with it that I can hardly write.
As soon as I got back home I assembled it and tried to get some notes; so far, in about half an hour or so,
I got the chromatic scale out of it.
Not bad if you think that I've never played a sax in my life.
I don't want to get carried away and will go step by step, just not to build up bad habits.
Please excuse me, I feel a little embarrased to write this way,but today, even if I'm 44 I feel like a kid!
Garret, THANKS A LOT, the instrument (and the case) is more than I expected,
and I must say, a good part of the value is your EXCELLENT ATTENTION.
I'll let you know anything else.
Best Wishes and Regards -
Sandro
Hi Garrett,
I have received the sax and it is gorgeous. I find it hard to put down when I am practicing. It has such a nice easy tone that grabs
you. For me, a young musician, it gives me the feeling of a professional. I would admit that at first, I didn`t believe that a horn at this price could
be of such a high standard but I proudly admit that I was was totally wrong.
I would recommend your brand to anyone who is looking for great value at
affordable prices. - Carlston Medford
Dear Garrett,
We spoke on the phone a week ago and I ordered your Black Nickel Alto. For the record I am a pro who has been playing for 37 years. I was with the Army Blues in Japan and was in Vegas for over four years. I have played every kind of music and every kind of horn out there. I have played with Louis Bellson and even recently rock and roll blues legend Bo Diddley. I am due to release an album with a group called Mukeez Strykin Matchiz. I teach and play Clarinet, Soprano sax, Alto and Tenor sax. I am involved with gigs of every style you can imagine. Having said that I just recieved your Black Nickel Alto and it has BLOWN ME AWAY !!!! I can't decide if it looks better than it plays or plays better than it looks. I have played the Yamaha Z ($2400) the Selmer seriesII ($2600) and other modern horns and this horn at $800 is their equal and then some if you count amazing beauty. This horn is a work of art! The mechanical aspect of it is flawless right out of the box. If my Yani Tenor didn't play so well, I might get the Black Nickel Tenor. Come to think of it I might! Thumbs up Garret!!! Your product and way of doing business are first class. - Perry Hornkohl
Garrett,
I can't thank you enough for all your help. Talking with you is a true pleasure and the wealth of knowledge that you so freely pass along is outstanding. You were excellent at educating "this poor old band mom". I must admit that when we bought our first Alto Sax from you (Black Nickel w/Gold Plated Keys), I truly thought it was probably going to be one of those "too good to be true" scenarios. I just couldn't fathom that you could provide us with a professional level Sax at that price. Believe me when I say that I was very, very wrongin my thinking. The instrument sounds wonderful, playing on it has improved my daughter's music presentation beyond all belief, and everyone she's involved with (private instructor, band instructor, and competition adjudicators) has raved about the quality. The Baritone we recently purchased (Black Nickel w/Silver Plated Keys) was all of the above too! She performed at a spring concert just 10 days after receiving it. I wouldn't think of working with any other company. I can't recommend you nor your instruments highly enough!! -

Hey Saxophone.com,
I just recently bought the black nickel curve soprano from you guys a couple of weeks ago and I got to tell you that I am truly impressed. The response on this horn if unbelievable. It plays a lot better than a Yanigisawa S901 and the tone is just amazing. With a combination of a Bobby Dukoff metal mouthpiece and this horn, I was able to turn heads. Its a funny thought that this little horn is able to blow away its $4,000 competitor with ease. You made a believer out of me. One satisfied customer - Fernando Motas D-Groove Band / Flashback Band)
Saxophone.com,
Just a quick line to let you know that the soprano is a great playing horn. I had a music ed. pal give it a go-over and he was amazed. He likes it better than his own Yanigisawa (ouch). He said he will send his students your way. I may also be purchasing a bari next summer and I will definitely give your black model a try. Thanks! - Brad W.
I am Tim Z.'s father and, as you may remember, he bought a saxophone from you recently. I would like to commend you for an outstanding product. I was skeptical at first, but I left the decision to him. His trust was well placed. Thank you for delivering a quality product. - Kerry Z.
Adam,
Wow. Love the horn!! A very nice change from all the average American made horns of the last 20 years--and definitely affordable. If you guys are looking for endorsements or representation of any kind, please let me know. I anticipate that I will be playing this horn often in educational environments and would be happy to spread the word to my U of MN students as well as students at various clinics I have lined up over the summer. You guys are a great alternative to overpriced, poor quality horns. Thanks again, and we'll be in touch. I hope to play more of your horns in the near future. - Aaron A.
Adam,
I didn't get a chance to speak to you today when I called Garrett. I just want to express my heartfelt thanks most especially to you for all the extra effort you put into setting my new tenor up and the extra mile you went with packing and shipping. The horn plays super. I am astonished that it is this fine of an instrument for the price. I still need some time to get familiar and calibrate my airstream from playing the Conn to this horn. Keywork and spring tension wise it just flat ass rips up and down like a nicely broken in horn not what I would expect from a brand new sax. My Yani was stiffer than that even after a year of playing 6 nights a week. You guys are the best and I want to give credit where credit is due....to you. Looks like once I get back home I'm gonna have to sell my other altos so I can get a silverplate Saxophone.com to compliment the tenor. Seriously a very big thank you for everything I am quite happy with the horn. - Mark
Hello again,
In response to your request regarding using my remarks...PLEASE feel free to quote me anytime. I'll be happy to help spread the word about your horns. As for a review of my experience in dealing with your site and your company: This has been just about the easiest and most pleasant time I've had when it comes to purchasing a new horn. Your representative, Adam, was an absolute joy to deal with. He answered every question I had quickly, and was right on the money with his remarks and comparisons with the other saxes out there. I really appreciate the level of personal attention you guys provide. The horn arrived quickly and without a scratch, and I'm already using it on my gigs. I should also mention that the ability to track the shipment directly from your website was a nice touch. As far as quality and cost...this is the best deal I've made since I bought my first Selmer MkVI for $450 from Emelio Lyons in Boston back in 1966! If any of your potential customers want to talk with me about this horn, feel free to give them my email address. You guys provide a very good horn at an incredibly good price! - Dave W.
P.S. If it helps to know a bit about my background: I graduated from Berklee College of Music in 1970 and taught there in 1969-70. I've toured and recorded with Aerosmith, Bonnie Raitt, Glenn Frey (I'm the sax player on "The Heat Is On" from Beverly Hills Cop), Bruce Willis, Little Feat, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Band and many others. I've been playing professionally since 1960. That's enough "tooting my own horn"...thought you might be able to use it. All my best to you guys. Don't hesitate to stay in touch.)
Hi,
I just received the black nickel alto I ordered. I would like to compliment you guys! This is really high quality, it plays very great, and it looks sharp! The price I paid was more than reasonable, it was great considering this plays as good as my friend's Selmer Super action ($3000) or Yamaha ($3000) . Your customer service was top of the line, and I am very impressed and I'm going to recommend you guys to all my friends. Thanks again - Tom H.
