SOLID HORN under FIRE!!!
Frank Fontaine (Bronx, NY) 7/22/2009 8:44 AM
I've been blowing a TS-642U Vintage Finish Tenor for about 4 years now and I've NEVER had one problem with it... This thing Cooks!!! Look, I'll say it guys!!! These are NOT a vintage Selmer... Nothing is!!! But we ALL know that don't we??? If you are looking at Cannonballs and P. Mauriats and the other $1,900 Tenors... You are going to get a semi-cheesy looking horn at OK quality with a semi-cheesy name. Right??? All of that understood, A SAXOPHONE.COM is a SOLID HORN that is (in EVERY SENSE) worth a blow. PERIOD. Do I play it on every gig? NO!!! Do I play my Selmer SBA on every gig? NO TO THAT AS WELL... That's because I have FOUR TENORS at home!!! NOW, I do play my Saxophone.com on tons of SERIOUS gigs though. I don't play it because I'm some CheeseBall endorser... I play it because it's a POWERFUL horn with a LUSH sound and a WARM BUZZ... And... it NEVER stops me from communicating my music. NO it's NOT "the Holy Grail" but I doubt that a $15,000 Selmer on eBay is either!!! Right??? Anyone suggesting that "you know" how THESE horns play (just because you've played a crappy horn from Taiwan) is silly!!! Taiwanese instruments have REALLY REALLY changed in quality in the past 2 to 3 years. If you are in the market for a horn in this price range, I highly recommend giving them a blow. You WON'T BE SORRY!!!

Just a note to say how good this sax is
Gary Hoole (Wingate, Co. Durham) 11/26/2008 2:44 PM
I bought this sax about a year ago and was very apprehensive because of the low price. From the moment I first played it I was totally blown away by it, the sound the feel and the look. It is a brilliant saxophone and in my opinion is equal to and even better than many other expensive saxophones. If you want a really great sax then you can't go wrong with this one. I love it and feel that I will never need to upgrade.

Still Loving My Tenor
dave (Unknown) 9/19/2007 12:48 PM
I'm still loving my saxophone.com Tenor. I purchased a TS-642U a few years ago, expecting to play it for a while and then upgrade. I've never upgraded. This saxophone plays as well as some that I've tried that were 5 times (or more) the cost. I love the unlacquered finish, the flexibility of tone, and the ergonomic layout of all the keys. It's got projection and punch when you want it, but can subtone like the devil. Intonation is stable enough to only require very minimal player adjustment. It's fantastic. The only negative is the "feel" of the G# key, but, I probably should take it to my tech for a tune up anyway, and that should cure the problem. Match this instrument with an Otto Link mouthpiece, and you're good to go. I was very happily surprised and still love my tenor. Thanks to Garrett and everyone at saxophone.com!
